A couple of schedule changes to announce. My appearance on WBAI's "Hour of the Wolf" has been bumped up a week from August 17th to August 10th. I'll post a reminder as that date gets closer.
And the release date for Beyond the Last Star, the Sherwood Smith–edited anthology with my story "The Diagnostic Feast," has been bumped back a month to September. More info as that gets closer.
In a way, the new September release date is a relief. It's my only publication that's currently pending, and I always like to have at least one story publication out there pending. It's when there are no pending pubs that I start to feel uneasy, like I'm not working hard enough at my writing. So if I haven't sold another story by the time BTLS comes out, I'm going to be feeling very antsy.
In fact, I think it's going to become my goal to try to always have two pubs pending. That should be possible, if I start applying the irons to my own feet a little better. I have ten stories out there on submission right now, having just gotten a rejection on my horror story "Immaculate" from The New Yorker (I pretty much knew they wouldn't take it, but you always start at the top), and it seems likely that at least one of them will sell. At least, that's what I tell myself.
Of course, should I happen to hit the jackpot with a book sale, that will certainly count higher than two short stories in the pipeline.
